The Teacher Book Wizard also lets teachers create and save their book lists online.

Searching
How do I use the Teacher Book Wizard to find books? [ + ]
We know teachers want to search for books in different ways to suit their different purposes, so the Teacher Book Wizard gives you three ways to search: Quick Search, BookAlike™, and Leveled Search.
How do I use Quick Search? [ + ]
Simply enter a title, author, or keyword. Then, you can "filter" or narrow down your search results by selecting categories or criteria in the left-hand column. Quick Search is great for researching book-based teaching resources, author information, and reading levels.
How do I use BookAlike? [ + ]
Think of BookAlike as being your "librarian helper." Just enter the title of a book to find other books that are similar to it. You have the option to use the slider to find books that are "alike" but at higher or lower levels of reading difficulty. This is a great way to find more books likely to interest a student who enjoyed a particular book.
How do I use Leveled Search? [ + ]
Leveled Search is an advanced search, with a special emphasis on customizing a search by reading level. Use Leveled Search to specify reading and interest levels, or select a search by genres, topics, and book types designed for the way teachers think about books.
Reading Levels
What are Reading Level Systems? [ + ]
Reading Level Systems are methods for assessing the reading level of a book. The Teacher Book Wizard includes levels for the four most commonly used systems: Grade Level Equivalent and the Lexile Framework for Reading, Guided Reading, and DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment). Learn more about leveled reading. http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/article.jsp?id=4477
How can I use the Teacher Book Wizard to level my books? [ + ]
At the top of Teacher Book Wizard pages, select the system your school uses. Your search results will display the level of the books in that system. Book detail pages display reading levels in all four systems.
Creating, Saving, and Viewing Book Lists
How can I create a book list? [ + ]
First sign in to your Scholastic.com account — registration is free. Go to "My Book Lists" at the upper right of the page. Click on "Create a Book List," name your list, and you're done.
You may also create a book list "on the fly" from a search-results page or a book-detail page by clicking on "Save to Book Lists."
Can I add comments to a book list? [ ]
Can I change the way my list displays? [ + ]
Yes. The Teacher Book Wizard gives you four different ways of formatting the way your list displays, depending on what you want to do with the list. The four list formats are: Educator, Send-Home Sheet, Title/Author List, and Purchase Order.
What is the Educator book list format? [ + ]
The Educator display provides the most complete information, including title, author(s), series, book cover, genre, topic, reading level, book type, and buying options. It's the format you probably want to use when creating, and modifying, a book list.
What is the Send-Home Sheet format? [ + ]
The Send-Home Sheet displays a list in a format most suitable for giving to a parent or student. The title, author(s) and book cover will display. Reading levels, genre, topic, book type, and buying options will not display.
What is the Title/Author list format? [ + ]
The Title/Author List displays only the title and author, perfect for printing a long list.
What is the Purchase Order list format? [ + ]
The Purchase Order format displays your list as a purchase order. It shows only those books on the list that are available through Scholastic's Teacher Store. (The books not for sale are not deleted from your list, just hidden in this view.) You may enter the quantities you want for each title, and the Teacher Book Wizard will calculate total cost for you. Enter your PO number and shipping and billing information, print the form, and mail or fax the form to Scholastic.
Purchasing Books
How can I purchase the books on my list? [ + ]
You can either purchase the book online, through the Scholastic Teacher Store, or by using the Purchase Order list format to create a purchase order that can be mailed or faxed to Scholastic. Read more information about the Purchase Order list format above.
To purchase online, select the Educator view of your book list. If a book is available for sale in our Teacher Store, a Buying Options button will display in search results, and on the book detail page. Click on the button to set a quantity and place the book in your Teacher Store shopping cart. You can then check out through the Teacher Store. You must be registered as a teacher to purchase books in the Teacher Store through the Teacher Book Wizard.
Sharing Your Book Lists
How can I share my book list with other teachers on the List Exchange? [ + ]
You can add any of your own book lists to the List Exchange by signing in to your Scholastic.com account and clicking on "My Book Lists" at the top right of the page. Select the book list you wish to share and then click on the button that says, "Share on the List Exchange." You will be asked to select the grade or grades for which the list is appropriate and to enter a brief description of the list. Your list will become available as a shared list in the List Exchange within 24 hours.
Why am I asked to provide a brief description of my book list? [ + ]
The description of your book list is used to help find your list when others search the List Exchange. In your description, use keywords that best characterize the theme, genre or topics of your list, such as Colonial America, Humor, Mystery, Volcanoes and Earthquakes, Friendship and School Life, etc. Your description does not need to be a complete sentence.
Can I change my mind about sharing a book list? [ + ]
Yes. To remove your list from the List Exchange, go to "My Book Lists," select the list you want to keep private, and click on the button that says, "Remove From the List Exchange." Your list will no longer be available as a shared list in the List Exchange within 24 hours.
